Tamil Nadu Open University was established by Act of the Legislature of Tamil nadu in 2002. Academic operations commenced in 2003-04 in TNOU. TNOU is a distance learning institution, so the placement cell may vary from other conventional universities. As per report placement date of 2024-25 is not available publicly but in 2023, approximately 295 graduates received offer letter with a genuine salary. SC and ST students who are enrolled in formal distance learning programs are eligible to receive reimbursement for their non-refundable tuition if they are unemployed. Their parents yearly income is less than INR 1,00,000.
