About University
MSU, Tirunelveli was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu, 1990. The university aims to provide quality and inclusive education, especially to the rural and unreached segments of economically disadvantaged students and women. The University was named after Prof. P. Sundaram Pillai, Tamil Scholar and Poet. University has 104 affiliated colleges and 6 university colleges under its jurisdiction. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University admission will start soon for the Undergraduate programmes. It only offers a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programme under UG with three specialisations. Medium of instruction to provide UG courses are both English and Tamil. The duration of the B.Sc. programme shall be 3 years and will follow a semester-based structure. It will have 6 semesters in total.
Candidates can choose one or more programme at the time of submission of application without need of sending separate applications for each programme. After this, there will be another round of admission counselling. There will be applicable application fee of INR. 750 necessary for students to pay. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University admission will begin soon for the postgraduate program. It offers PG programmes like Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (M.Sc), M.Lib.I.Sc, with different specialisations. Admission is based on merit and entrance exam. Entrance exams will be conducted offline by the University. The medium of instruction of programme delivery is English and Tamil. PG Programmes has a course duration 2 years and it follows semester-based structure, consisting of 4 semesters. Total number of credits assigned for programmes is 90. It is mandatory to clear eligibility requirements. Students who are not eligible are advised to not go further with the admission procedure if students are applying from MS University. Eligibility criteria is given below:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any disciple from recognized University.
- Candidates should have minimum of 50% aggregate marks in last qualifying exam.

MSU Offered PG Programs Approved By AICTE
MS University offers a total of 3 programmes, which is approved by both UGC and AICTE. These programmes are MBA, MCA, and M.E (Master of Engineering). Admissions in these programmes are offered by entrance exam TANCET 2025/GATE 2025.
- Selection for MBA Programmes: Students are selected through TANCET – 2025 Entrance Marks (85 marks), Group Discussion (5 marks) and Personal Interview (10 marks).
- Selection for MCA Programmes: Students are selected on the basis of combined marks obtained by them in their UG Examination and Entrance Test (TANCET / UET) Score. If student have both TANCET and UET scores, then higher marks will be considered.
- Selection for M.E Programmes: Students will be selected based on the TANCET – 2025 entrance test marks. GATE candidates will be given admission directly to M.E programme based on GATE scores.
Students in any of the above programmes who have also cleared their GATE will be eligible for AICTE PG Scholarships.
