About IARI
Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is India’s largest educational institution, which is funded by ICAR. Its journey began in 1905 from Pusa, Bihar. That’s why this institute is popularly known as Pusa University. This was established by the Government of India. In 1936, this university was shifted to Delhi. IARI mainly covers basic and applied research in major and diverse fields of agricultural science.
IARI UG Courses Admission 2026
IARI admission registration for the undergraduate courses will begin soon for the academic session 2026. In order to get admission in IARI UG courses, candidates must have a Class 12th Qualifying certificate. That should be from a recognized board either state or central. You must be having 50% marks if you are a candidate from the unreserved category. While relaxation of 5-10% marks is available for reserved category students.But these are just criteria to make you eligible. You also need to appear in CUET (ICAR-UG). It is made compulsory for everyone to appear in the CUET exam.
NTA conducts this exam having 3 categories of subjects, viz. General Test, Domain Specific, and language. So, you need to be active on the NTA website. In a recent circular released on 10 Sept 2025 by ICAR-IARI, it is stated that the undergraduate program has been discontinued. While B.Sc. Agriculture will be available in other campuses of IARI.
IARI PG Courses Admission 2026
IARI admission process will start soon for the postgraduate program for the academic session 2026. There are so many postgraduate courses like M.Tech, M.Sc, and others in different faculties offered by IARI. These courses are of 2-year duration. Disciplines offered by IARI are here as agriculture, Horticulture, Environmental science, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and farm Engineering, which provide you with in hand experience of these fields. From a government-approved and recognised Bachelor’s degree is a very important part of merit. You also need to be with a minimum required percentage for admission.
Entrance exams like AIEEA and CUET-PG are necessary in order to get your admission done. For that you need to apply online on the official ICAR-IARI portal. Appear in entrance exam necessary for your course and be on campus with marks obtained in the examination for verification and counseling. Candidates also have to be in an interview round, in this round, it will be decided whether you will ensure your admission or not.
IARI PhD Courses Admission 2026
Ph.D courses are doctoral-level courses offered by IARI. IARI admission will begin soon for the PhD courses for the academic session 2026-27. If you are seeking admission in a PH.D programme, it is essential to have a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject along with an ICAR AIEEA, JRF, and SRF scorecard. Admission will be accepted depending on the written exams, academic record after Class 10 and an interview round. There are a wide array of specializations like Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Agronomy, Biochemistry, Fruit Science and 20+ more available for Ph.D seekers.
Direct admission to any doctoral programme is not provided with the qualifying entrance exams mentioned above. All these tests are based on computer mode. These have objective questions in MCQ type. Once you qualify these exams and meet the necessary requirements, you will have to be for an interview session. After that you will have to pay the required fee, which you are required to pay during admission time and get yourself enrolled.
Eligibility Criteria For IARI Admission
There are two ways of getting your admission done in IARI for different offered courses of different levels. The first one is merit based while the second one is entrance exam based. There is no direct way of getting admission in any bachelor degree program without passing the CUET test. Let’s talk about merit first which is different for UG, PG and doctoral. So, don’t forget to verify and explore before applying. For admission is UG courses, All Indian Entrance Test is conducted across all over India, CUET UG for bachelor’s courses.
While AIEEA or CUET-PG for Masters courses, both of these exams are conducted by NTA. Candidates who wanna explore vast agricultural fields and get admission in UG courses must have an Intermediate passing certificate from a recognized board. While for PG courses you need a bachelor’s degree will be considered an important factor.

All postgraduate courses need the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) which is conducted by Testing Agency NTA.
