About Calcutta University 

Calcutta University is a public state university, was established on January 24, 1857. It is the oldest multidisciplinary university in the Indian subcontinent. The university is accredited by NAAC with “A” grade and recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission). University of Calcutta offers a wide range of courses across science,commerce, engineering, management and humanities fields. Calcutta University UG Admission 2026-27

Calcutta University offers various undergraduate (UG) courses across several fields like arts, science, commerce, management, and engineering. To be eligible for UG courses, students must complete their higher secondary education (10+2) from a certified board of education. The university also required candidates to secure at least 50% to 55% aggregate marks in a relevant subject. It also provides relaxation to the SC/ST candidates. The selection process of UG courses is based on the merit score of the qualifying examination, but for many courses, it may require entrance exams

The qualification requirements for pursuing PG courses is to hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with 50% marks from a recognized university. The fee range of PG courses started between INR 4,229 to INR 6,550 per semester 

  • MCA Admission 2026- 27: University of Calcutta offers a MCA (Master of Computer Application) programme in the duration of 2 years, which is divided into 4 semesters.  The ad mission into MCA programme is based on WBJECA (West Bengal Joint Entrance for Computer Applications).  Candidates must need to appear for the entrance exam and secure a minimum passing score. Candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Computer Application from any UGC approved university are eligible to apply for MCA programmes.  Obtaining 55% to 60% aggregate marks is also required. 

Calcutta University Admission Fee Structure

Calcutta University is a state government university which offers courses in a very low range. The UG courses’ fee generally ranges from INR 5,472 to INR 6,000 per semester, and for the PG course, it starts between INR 5,000 to INR 6,200 per semester. The M.Tech programme fee ranges from INR 9,000 to INR 14,000 per semester.
