About the University

Assam Agricultural University (AAU) was established in 1969 under the Assam Agricultural University Act 1968. The university is located in Jorhat, Assam. AAU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It covers multiple faculties like Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Horticulture, Sericulture and Community Science etc. AAU is the first of its kind in Northeast India with an aim to create globally competitive farm-sectors, conduct advanced research for optimized production and many more.

Assam Agricultural University UG Admission 2026-27 

AAU (Assam Agricultural University) offers several undergraduate (UG) courses in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary etc. The duration of uthe ndergraduate programme is 4 years, some of the include 5-year 6-month programmes, which require a 6-month internship. Undergraduate programmes include B.Sc in Agriculture, B.V.Sc. & A.H., Community Science, B.F.Sc, Food Nutrition & Dietetics and Horticulture. 

To pursue any of the UG courses from AAU, candidates need to pass the higher secondary education (10+2) in the science stream with PCB or PCAg (Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture).  The university also set a minimum passing percentage for all candidates, for general candidates 50% is a minimum aggregate, 40% marks is for SC/ST/OBC/Pwd candidates. For taking admission in UG courses at AAU, candidates must have to appear for the CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test).  

Assam Agricultural University PG Admission 2026-27  

Assam Agricultural University Admission portal has not opened yet for the PG programmes for the 2026- 27 academic year. AAU offers PG courses like M.Sc in Agriculture,M. Tech in Agriculture Engineering, Food Technology, MBA in Agri-Business, M.V.Sc and M.F.Sc etc. Selection for the master’s degree programme is based on the TA score obtained by the applicants in ICAR’s AIEEA (PG).

To be eligible for PG programs applicants have to hold a Bachelor’s degree in science field from a recognized university.  Securing a minimum 50% to 60% marks is also mandatory. It is required to carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying. 

Assam Agricultural University Admission Fee Structure 

Assam Agricultural University is a government university, which generally offers programmes in a very low range. An undergraduate (UG) course fee at AAU starts between INR 12,150 to INR 13,150 per semester. First semester fees of postgraduate (PG) courses are ranging from INR 17,640 to INR 18,550. AAU also charges for some additional fees like registration fee of INR 1,500, Alumni Fee of INR 500, Identity Card fee of INR 200 and more.

Assam Agricultural University Admission Procedure is totally based on the merit scores secured in CUET-UG/PG. It is advisable for candidates to visit the official portal for the university and fill out the registration form and pay the one time rehabilitation fee of INR 1,500. Before applying, students need to download the information brochure for guidelines and information through the university website.

• Step 8: Confirmation: After the payment you will receive an acknowledgement letter or confirmation mail from the university.
